When Is It A Good Time To Engage in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Services?

When should you be looking to engage in search engine optimization services? When should you be flipping through SEO Consultants or contacting SEO firms for a quote? Simple answer folks, if you are looking to save money and time to market, you should be doing this right at the very beginning and I mean even before you’ve even thought of a domain name.

Now the skeptic out there is probably thinking right now “Right, nice try buddy, selling your services using the fear factor. I’m not buying it”. Now don’t get me wrong, you can contact a SEO firm at any point in your website’s lifecycle. However, by not contacting a SEO Firm or Consultant right from the very beginning you are in all likelihood spending or will end up spending at the very minimum an excess of 50% of your website development budget and this does not include the SEO fees.

Why? Let me give you some reasons. As a SEO consultant I have only once been contacted by a client that had nothing ready but the concept behind a website. This is the perfect scenario that would allow me to voice my inputs on the following from the very beginning.

  1. Keyword Focus and Direction
  2. Domain Name and Alternate Domain Names to protect brand (SEO’s these days have taken over brand management to a fair degree)
  3. Web Hosting
  4. Optimize Website Layout and Structure
  5. Website Spiderability
  6. Content Focus, Management and Layout

Yes, you can do many of these at any stage in a campaign but imagine the amount of expense you will save. Having your website redesigned after spending thousands of dollars on the pretty flash design is a complete waste of your budget. While this statement has become more than a cliched remark, you will be surprised how often you come across clients that have invested in Flash as the be all and end all of their website.

Can you imagine your SEO Consultant going through all the pages on your website rewriting and/or recommending changes to your content and website structure to bring in the right keyword focus. You are throwing money in SEO Consultancy fees that could have been avoided if you had your search engine optimization advice when you first created your website structure or content.

It is usually the second time around that clients are more than willing to sign up and ask for an SEO ’s involvement right from the very beginning because of the learning and expensive exercise they went through the first time around.

    Indeed it is very important for companies to realize that they must solicit the services of am SEO consultant BEFORE they start getting their site(s) developed. However, even now, many businesses do not practice this and try to find shortcuts and end up hiring SEO consultants that promise “fast result” and “#1 Google rankings.” By doing this they may save a buck today, but it definitely will hurt their business in the long run. To get solid, sustainable results, a fair amount of work and a LOT of patience is required.

    It is true that a site owner should do SEO on his site if he or she wants to get listed on the top of the search results.
    I think a person should start it in the beginning itself.

    Some business doesnt seem to understand the need for an SEO services at the beginning of the web development and usually at the last. This is why Businesses oftenly spend more than usual.
