About

Some of you returning to this website might notice quite a few changes to the blog design, focus, content and even the tone. Well, let me make things clear. This blog was due for a makeover. Not just the design but the focus as well. Henceforth the focus of this blog will be on search engine optimization, SEO related tips, tricks and strategies to rank better and increase your website presence, traffic and ofcourse monetization.

A little bit about myself. My name is Dinesh B. I have been developing websites for a while now. Being a bit of a tech junkie my initial focus was purely on the design, functionality and user experience. While all of these qualities are important it quickly became apparent that search engines and optimization for search engines is equally if not more important. After all what is the point in having super cool features if nobody uses them. Thus began my quest to understand search engines and the magic formula to rank higher on the SERP’s (Search Engines Result Pages/Position)

After many countless hours of learning and implementing SEO speak I’ve learnt the following.

  1. There is no magic formula
  2. What holds good today will be obsolete tomorrow.
  3. There is no substitute for hard work (content creation) in the long term.
  4. Yes, you can game the search engines but you will live in constant fear and sooner rather than later your misguided attempts will lead to a definite ban.

This blog is my attempt to share all that I’ve learnt and continue to learn everyday. By no means am I an expert, like you I’m still learning. There are quite a few rock stars out there in the blogosphere that are simply so full of knowledge. I will be linking out to any post or article that I find interesting and of value constantly on this blog. My plan is to make this an useful resource for anybody starting out, trying to understand search engines and website optimization. Hopefully you will be able to learn and make a little sense of the vast and still very little understood world of SEO in a much shorter time span than I did.

Lastly, since this blog is all about search engine tips, here is one for the About page on your site. If you are trying to target a particular geographical location (Let’s say your main target market is France) then simply tell Google about it. Add a valid local address on your Contact or About page and you will soon see a difference in your search engine results for Google.fr compared to the generic Google.com

Now that was to get your attention so that you keep coming back for more. Bookmark it and do not forget to subscribe to my feed.
